When is a TV Program Downloadable?

When it’s public access? When its pilot has been rejected and not even shown? Case in point, the US pilot for a show based around Warren Ellis’s Global Frequency [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0472095/] has been filmed but not shown. Nor is it likely to be. Who knows why? But is there any harm in releasing that pilot online to see what people think of it. We all know that internet grass roots word of mouth has made millions in certain cases (Titanic [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120338/] and Blair Witch [http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0185937/] spring to mind) and it’s not as though it can lose any further money - it’s never being shown. Hmm, a directory of unshown pilots would be interesting - is the US pilot of Red Dwarf online? (Ans: Yes, it’s on Youtube [/blog/admin/Pages/www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXU-tXkQcHw])
